4.39. DISOBEDIENCE TO THE PROPHET

God says

Those who are bent on denying the truth and paid no heed to the Apostle will on that Day [of Resurrection] wish that earth would swallow them: …Q.4:41

But as for him who, after guidance has been manifested to him, cuts himself off from the Apostle and follows a path other than that of the believers -- him shall  We leave unto that which he himself has chosen*, and shall cause him to endure hell: and how evil a journey’s end. -- Q.4:115
*a stress on man’s freedom of choice.

Now whenever God and His Apostle have decided a matter,* it is not for a believing man or a believing woman to claim freedom of choice insofar as they themselves are concerned: for he who [thus] rebels against God and His Apostle has already, most obviously, gone astray. -- Q.33:36
* I.e., Whenever a specific law has been formulated as such in the Quran or in an injunction promulgated by the Prophet.

Prophet said

4.38. OBEDIENCE TO THE PROPHET(Concluded)

God says

Indeed in the messenger of God you have a good example for everyone who looks forward [with hope and awe] to God and the Last Day, and remembers God unceasingly. -- Q.33:21

…[know that] whoever pays heed unto God and pays heed unto His Apostle has already attained to a mighty triumph. -- Q.33:71

O you who believe! Pay heed unto God and pay heed unto the Apostle and let not your [good] deeds come to naught. --
Q.47:33

Behold, all who pledge their allegiance to thee [O Muhammad] pledge their allegiance to God: the hand of God is over their hands.* Q.48:10
(This is reference to the hand-clasp with which all followers of the Prophet confirmed their allegiance to him at Hudaybiyyah. The verse is of great spiritual significance in Sufi order.)

Prophet said

“None of you (truly) believes until his inclination is in accordance to what I have brought” –  H: Kitab al-Hujja. N: Muhammad Abdullah.

“You are in no way better than a Red one or a black one (or a white one) except that you surpass him on account of piety.” -- H: Ahmed. N: Abu Zarr.
In Islam cast, creed, colour or what have you does not make you superior person or nation. God-consciousness does; that is: ‘awareness of God’s all presence and to try to mould one’s life in the light of this awareness.’

4.38. OBEDIENCE TO THE PROPHET(To be continued)

God says

…And pay heed unto God and His Apostle so that you might be graced with mercy. And vie with one another to attain your Sustainer’s forgiveness and a paradise as vast as heavens and the earth, which has been readied for the God-conscious -- Q.3:132, 132

He who obeys the Apostle obeys God thereby;… Q.4:80

O mankind! The Apostle has now come to you with the truth* from your Sustainer: believe, then, for your own good!.And if you deny the truth – behold, unto God belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is on earth, and God is indeed all-knowing, wise! -- Q.4:170
* Man is sent down on Earth with a definite purpose, with his faculties, intelligence, freedom of decision provided. In addition, the book of knowledge and wisdom, the Quran, to inform him of the purpose; to guide through life’s this phase of performance and actions; to tell of its next phase of reward and punishment.
Several things we try to do daily on their appointed time. Why not accord affordable time for understanding the truth that has been conveyed through our Prophet who must be obeyed. It is the Message for us from our Sustainer to be understood over and over again so as to act upon it. This is the only chance we have!
